Safety is Our Mission - Central Kentucky Welding & Fabrication

Zero Days lost time

Our Safety Mission Statement

At Central KY Welding & Fabrication, safety is more than a priority—it’s a core value that guides every project we take on. From the smallest to the largest structural installation, we are committed to protecting our team, our clients, and every jobsite we work on.

As the owner, I, Derek Jones, bring more than 26 years of experience in welding and fabrication, and I know firsthand that quality work can only be achieved through safe work. That’s why we strictly follow all OSHA and AWS standards and use only the right tools, equipment, and procedures for every task.

Our mission is to:

  • Create a safe work environment for our employees, customers, and partners.

  • Deliver excellence without compromise, ensuring every weld and installation is both strong and secure.

  • Promote accountability by treating safety as everyone’s responsibility.

  • Continuously improve by learning, training, and applying the best safety practices in the industry.

We believe that every job can and should be completed without incident. By combining technical skill with a safety-first mindset, we protect people, property, and the reputation of the work we deliver.

At Central KY Welding & Fabrication, safety isn’t just part of the job—it’s the foundation of everything we do.

Our Safety Practices

At Central KY Welding & Fabrication, safety is not just a policy—it’s the way we operate every single day. We take proactive measures to protect our team, our clients, and the worksites where we provide welding and fabrication services. Our safety practices include:

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) & Engineering Controls

Every member of our crew is equipped with the proper PPE for the task at hand, including welding helmets, safety glasses, gloves, flame-resistant clothing, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, and respiratory protection when required. We also implement engineering controls—such as ventilation systems, welding curtains, fire prevention measures, and equipment safeguards—to minimize risks at the source.

Site-Specific Safety Procedures

Each jobsite is different, and we adapt our safety plan to match the unique environment:

  • Confined Spaces – We follow OSHA confined space entry protocols, including atmospheric testing, ventilation, rescue planning, and continuous monitoring.

  • Fall Protection – We use approved harnesses, lifelines, guardrails, and anchor points when working at height.

  • Hot Work Permits – For any welding in high-risk areas, we follow strict hot work permit procedures to prevent fire hazards.

  • Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) – We ensure all energy sources are controlled during equipment repairs or installation.

Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) Practices

Before any work begins, we conduct a Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) to identify potential hazards and determine the safest way to complete the task. This includes:

  • Reviewing the scope of work and environment.

  • Identifying hazards such as fire risk, electrical exposure, confined space, or moving equipment.

  • Selecting the appropriate PPE, tools, and controls.

  • Communicating the safety plan with all team members before starting work.

By combining PPE, engineering controls, site-specific procedures, and thorough JHA practices, we create a culture of safety that ensures every project is completed without compromise.
